European Workforce Development Policies: Lessons for the United States Panel Summary

Kari P Hadjivassiliou was invited to take part in the Panel on ‘European Workforce Development Policies: Lessons for the United States’ at the conference, Transforming U.S. Workforce Development Policies for the 21st Century. This conference, held on 15-17 October 2014 in New Jersey (Rutgers University), was cosponsored by the Federal Reserve Banks of Atlanta and Kansas City and the John J. Heldrich Center for Workforce Development at Rutgers University. Following this Conference the Heldrich Center for Workforce Development has just produced a 25-minute DVD highlighting the challenges facing workers, job seekers, including young people, and businesses in both the US and EU as well as policy recommendations by speakers and panellists. In one of the clips below, Kari discusses the youth employment situation in the EU together with some policies that have proved successful in facilitating school-to-work transitions in the EU.
